The Alliance’s 25-year history of advancing racial equity in economic development has provided us with a deep understanding of the barriers to racial equity in all of Newark’s sectors and industries. Our Racial Equity work connects Members to impactful inclusion technical assistance, tools, and comprehensive capacity-building exercises.
Racial Equity activities include:
Launched a Racial Equity working group composed of diversity, equity, and inclusion leaders to identify and recommend equitable organizational policies and procedures.
Advocated for policy interventions to address the systemic barriers to opportunities for Black and Brown people in contracting, workforce development, and training in the private and public sectors.
Implemented the Racial Equity Framework to track and assess Members’ individual and collective progress on key business functions, including equitable hiring, recruitment, and retention; organizational structure; communications; and investments.
