Chamara Adams
Events and Community Manager
Chamara Adams serves as the Events and Community Manager where she is responsible for developing, producing and implementing events that support the Alliance’s commercial corridor work while also connecting people within the larger community. She also assists with communications to increase the organization’s digital presence.
Chamara is a strong and passionate advocate of equitable education for all students. A former educator, she began her teaching career in Newark through the Newark-Montclair Urban Teaching Residency in 2013. She then discovered the world of international education and moved to Abu Dhabi, where she lived and taught students from all over the world for four years. After transitioning back to the US in 2020, Chamara took her passion for education to an EdTech startup that focused on partnering with school districts around the country to provide high-quality, small-group tutoring to students who would not have access to tutoring otherwise. While there, she worked with their community of 2,000+ teachers, streamlining the processes for scheduling and interviewing. She also briefly worked for the New York Times as an operations manager on their photography desk prior to joining the Alliance.
She received her BA in Sociology from Spelman College and her MA in education from Montclair State University. In her free time, you can find her reading, randomly doing karaoke or planning her next trip somewhere around the world.
